Tomb of Saint Paul Found? ""Nobody ever thought to look behind that plaque" states Giorgio Filippi, an archaeologist on the project. Archaeologists discovered the sarcophagus on what would have been the ground floor of the 4th century basilica "St. Paul Outside the Walls" in Rome. It was found under the altar next to a marble plaque that reads, "Apostle Paul, martyr."
